Design Statement:

A family of four needed room to grow, and wanting to move away from their traditional home and into a modern open floor plan. To produce the sense of openness that the client envisioned, it was important to concentrate on refining the kitchens finishes, eliminate walls, and minimize visual clutter. By opening the floor plan up we were able to create a panoramic view to all the adjoining spaces centralized around an entertainment kitchen with room for everyone to gather around.

The center of this design is the island that serves two functions, a workspace, and an eating area. We wanted the island to be sleek and seamless, so a quartz slab was selected. We used the entire length of 132" jumbo slab. It was an incredible feat installing this 1400 lbs. island top into the space. It took 11 guys, 2 trips, 1 cherry picker, and a few sore backs. It was completed with two mitered waterfall legs returning to the floor on both sides, creating a stunning finished look. The wall covering was the perfect example of how value engineering can truly add value. The original design called for wood veneer panels in a warm wood tone to balance the cool gray painted cabinets. The budget did not agree. We selected this wall covering as a replacement to still provide the warmth and texture. The end result was a creative color and texture that is truly unique and surpasses the original vision.

This entertainment kitchen wouldn't be complete without a stellar bar. Located at the far end of kitchen nearest the dining and family room, it is concealed by pocketing doors allowing the bar to be on display for self-service or closed and free of clutter. Looking at or out from this kitchen offers a impactful panoramic view.
